Our days together are often unpredictable and the routine you crafted around me so carefully – the net which kept both of us safe – has crumbled. You don’t know where you stand all of a sudden and you feel a bit helpless. But remember, I feel this way, too.

I am sure it must be confusing when one moment I am happily smiling and the next I am yelling and screaming at you, crying so much it makes my voice wobble and my breathing shuddery. You’re shocked and I am in too deep to stop it – I don’t know how to stop it – and you don’t either.

I’m still quivering with rage about this but will try and explain without getting too upset by the flashbacks. So I was given a banana today and – oh God I can barely bring myself to say it… my mum peeled back the skin 1/2 a centimetre further than I wanted her to… I KNOW! Dear Toddler,

Just a quick note to point out (in case you were not aware) that hissy fits are not actually a mandatory part of the day. I know you are almost two, and are perhaps feeling pressure to live up to the badass rep of toddlerhood,but honestly, it’s not cool to follow the crowd. Additionally, it also isn’t necessary to shout “NO” at every question I ask, bar the offering of cake.

About my yellow cup?

I have a yellow beaker that I have been using for about a year now. My parents fill it with water, they give it to me, I drink it. All very easy. However, I have recently decided that on Tuesday afternoons, every other Friday and any time it rains, I do NOT want to use the yellow beaker. In fact, I don’t even want to see it.
